A little while ago I had a short trip to Spain, Madrid. I’ve never been to Madrid before, so I had no idea what to see or what to look for at all. Even though I’ve been to Barcelona before, I was told Madrid is totally different. As it’s more landward compared to Barcelona. The culture, history and most important food is very different from the Spain I knew. Of course they also have tapas, but compared to other parts in Spain, food in Madrid is more meaty and less seafood. I was thrilled to visit Madrid and I couldn’t wait to eat all the food!
Before the departure, I actually looked up some information about Madrid. The hotspots, the go-to’s and of course what to eat! I got most of my inspirations from nakedmadrid.com . This website is great! It doesn’t cover everything, but it gives you plenty of inspirations!! So I can definitely recommend you check them out!
We had a 3 nights, 4 days trip and stayed in the Best Western Arosa hotel in Madrid. The location of our hotel was very very good! The hotel was located next to the Gran Via subway station, which basically is one of the main streets! Just a couple minutes away from the stores, the famous Place de Sol and lot of sightseeing spots. The rooms are neat and they also have the smallest elevator I’ve ever seen in my life. It max fits two people without luggage. I wouldn’t go in there if you have claustrophobia.
After we dropped our luggage in our room, we went out to explore the neighborhood and to grab something to eat. That’s went we found out we were so close by to everything. We could easily walk the whole trip and grab a drink or something if we were tired, as the weather was great upon arrival. So there was no need for subway passes. We just walked around and decided to go to the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum, which was nearby. On our way we took some pictures of the beautiful architectures of the city.
I love the way the buildings and the streets look! The main streets are really wide and spacious with tall and beautiful buildings. It has a artsy feeling to it and there wasn’t too much skyscrapers.
